Dance of Struggle

The Dance of Struggle

by Martha MacFarland

Struggle still occurs

Despite our spiritual views

Sometimes we feel

Yanked from the flow of well being

Standing in the limitations of our humanism

Standing in the conflict with others around us

Beyond our good intentions

Life pushes off the dance floor

Or at least into a corner

So the recovery begins

Calming the mind to a peaceful state

Asking what needs to be released

To get back into the flow

We learn so much

Trying to navigate relationships

We want to be our authentic self

Yet sometimes when we do

We bump into others

So we breathe in

Let our mind subside

From the whirling thoughts

And realize that

It is okay for others to have opinions about us

And us of them

We still can respect our differences

Their divinity within

And we can’t control what they project onto us

For the dance of life is not always smooth

There are bumps and collisions

And we have to learn how to navigate the dance floor

With so many moving feet

However, when the friction is released

And we have recovered

We learn how to glide around the person

And before we know it

We find a way to work in ease

Knowing our boundaries may have to be clearer

To avoid any future collisions

And somethings we just have to accept our situation

And do our best to raise our frequency

In order to resonate in a higher way

That lifts us both up

And in the lifting, the grace begins again

The twirling and whirling around the floor

Looking for peace and ease after the dance of struggle
